“Great is thy faithfulness!  Great is thy faithfulness!  Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Your hand has provided.  Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!”
God’s great faithfulness continues to be revealed here in El Salvador.  Trini was the first person to reveal this faithfulness.  Without speaking Spanish, we could still see her deep spirituality.  She has an inner light that radiated God’s love.  This love was further revealed to us through the story of Ailsa praying for the Lutheran Bishop.  What are the chances that the “little girl praying for the bishop” in the U.S. would be dating a missionary in El Salvador who worked for that same bishop 20 years later?!
Bishop Gomez revealed God’s faithfulness in his personal stories and through his devotion to God’s people.  I can’t help but believe that God was at work when we “bumped into” the priest (in the video) that came to San Salvador because the Jesuit priests were murdered.  And how is it that our trip dates were set the same week as the anniversary of the “lockdown” and Jesuit martyrs?  What prompted Marco’s friend, the painter, to skip his usual spot and come to the overlook the same night we went?  Is it this same steadfast love that fuels Darryl’s great love for the people of El Salvador?
We were very tired today.  Wednesday is “hump day” in El Salvador too.  But God continued to reveal himself.  We could see him in Faye’s laughter and the squealing of the children.  Pastor Luis’ neighbor revealed Him through her devotion to his church, even though she attends an Evangelical church down the road.  We felt God’s presence in the songs of the ladies and the children; in the team members working with new partners.
We received sad news this morning that Marco’s uncle had died.  But I know that God’s faithful hand will continue to provide Marco (and the rest of us) all that we need.
Gracious Lord, with each new day you continue to reveal new forms of your faithfulness.  Use each of us as instruments of that faithfulness and grant us the wisdom to see it revealed in others.  Amen  ---- Guillermo
